Blockchain App Lets Patients Schedule Medical and Insurance Services

Seoul Medical Center is to launch an integrated service for medical information this month. The service is in the form of an app that enables patients to make appointments for medical treatment, check results of medical reports, or access the prescription data right from their smartphones.

Given the transparent and secure nature of the blockchain, experts have delegated the medical information service to the technology to enable people to access and store their sensitive medical data in a secure place devoid of theft or breach. The service also holds the potential to hand out a number of different medical certificates and claim medical insurance via their mobile phones.

Kyobo Life Insurance, along with the Korea Post, are the two insurers who will be the insurance partners with the service enabling users to claim the insurance via Seoul Care. The customers and patients will also be able to successfully access the documents linked with diagnosis, admission, payments as well as hospitalization in Seoul Medical Center. They can directly deliver the documents to their respective insurance firms to claim the hospital bills. Korea post insurance is the investment unit of Korea Post, the postal service in South Korea. It comes within the reign of the Ministry of Science & ICT and is in charge of postal service, postal banking، as well as insurance assistance in the country. It is headquartered in Sejong City.

Kyobo Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is a South Korea based life insurance firm with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. It was previously known by the name Daehan Education Insurance. It is touted to be one of the biggest life insurance corporations in South Korea.

Originally, the Seoul care app for insurance claim was a solution that serviced only an automatic blockchain-based insurance claim constructed by the insurance company, Kyobo Life, in the year 2017. It was a part of the undertaking inaugurated under the Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communication, and the National Information Society Agency.

The launch of the app is tentatively set to happen within this month as per the officials from Seoul Medical Center. The blockchain-based mobile app, known by the name Seoul Care is sun expected to be on board. This would be one of the initial undertakings of blockchain implementation in the medical industry that has successfully reached consummation.
